Our History

   Dumalag Vocational-Technical School (DVTS) is a government owned institution administered by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). This school was opened in July 1946 bearing the name DUMALAG HIGH SCHOOL through the initiative of Ex-Mayor Jose Maria Castro and some relatives and friends.  

 

    In 1962, the school was converted into a regional vocational school by the late Speaker Cornelio t. Villareal. It was officially inaugurated on March 30, 1963 during the Commencement Exercises bearing the name Capiz regional Vocational High School (CRVHS). ​  

 

      On November 11, 1982, Batas Pambansa BLG. 244 sponsored by Assemblyman Pedro Exmundo converted the Capiz Regional Vocational High School into the Dumalag Vocational-Technical School. Since then,the school has undergone significant changes and has been identified as one of the effective vocational schools in the region serving the needs of Dumalag and neighboring municipalities.   

 

    By virtue of the Special Provision of the General Appropriation Act, DVTS was transferred to TESDA from DECS. The TESDA/DECS Joint Memorandum Circular No. 1, Series of 1997 dated March 22, 1997 was issued to impliment the phase out and transfer of secondary programs in TESDA Adsministered schools to DECS (now DepEd). ​    

     On March 4, 2002 DVTS was transferred to TESDA through a Memorandum of agreement executed between Atty. Victoriano Tirol, Regional Director of DepEd Region VI and Mr. Valerio d. Rola, OIC Regional Director of TESDA VI. ​ ​                                                                        

 

   DVTS Now.. Dumalag Vocational-Technical is the only TESDA Technical Institue in the Province of Capiz and one of Centers for Technical Excellence in skills developments and training in the Tourism Industry.
